How to assign a location

How to assign a location

Summary

Locations are warehouse storage spaces. These can represent any storage location. Once the locations are created, they can be assigned to inventories. The assignment of locations makes it easy to find the inventory and to make more complete reports.

 Create the locations

  1. Navigate to the Settings - Warehouses section

  2. Select or create a warehouse by clicking on the +.
    1. Enter the name, code and description of the warehouse.
    2. Enter the address of the warehouse.

  3. Go to the Location tab

  4. Click on Generate .

  5. Choose the zone or create it by clicking on the +.

  6. Choose the number of Aisles, Bays and desired levels. Generally, 1 is sufficient, but depends on the level of detail needed.

  7. If desired, limit the number of inventory associated with the location to 1. This will make the location impossible to assign to an inventory when it already has an inventory assigned.

  8. Locations can be checked off and then labels printed to identify them in the warehouse. Labels can also make it easier to assign locations.

The alphabetic code will name the elements from A to Z while the numeric code will name them from 1 to 99. Bays, Aisles and Levels cannot be renamed. Locations can be changed at any time.

 Assigning the locations

  1. Locations can be assigned to items and inventories.

  2. Navigate to Inventory - Inventories.

  3. There are two ways to assign a location:

    1. Check the desired inventories, click on More actions, then on Location association. You can then scan the location code.

    2. Select a target inventory, then use the drop-down list to choose a location.
